The Northern Cardinals are very territorial to their own space. They attack their own reflections in windows, mirrors, and cards for hours on end. They are weak and cannot fly for long distances, making them an easy target for predators. They are ugly and undergo stressful molt (shedding), leaving them looking ragged, patchy, and bald. They are bad as romantic parters and do not mate for life, and most pairs separate.
